Seeking Justice for Those in Need

Nelson Mullins is committed to serving the most vulnerable in our society with social, economic and legal issues through pro bono service.  The Firm engages in complex pro bono litigation, policy and legislative advocacy, and provides individual representation to a diverse group of people and organizations.  Our pro bono clients include individuals who serve our country and nonprofits whose mission is to serve people with limited means.  As often described by our late partner and advocate, Stephen G. Morrison, pro bono work helps all of us remember the reason we have laws—to protect, to help, to guide and to seek justice.  The Firm embraces and supports our pro bono culture.  After all, those who serve the law should also serve the poor and disadvantaged.

Leaders in Our Communities and Profession

Helping others advocate for what is right and serving our profession and our communities are among the Firm’s core values.  Nelson Mullins’ legal team has had past presidents for the American Bar Association and the National Foundation for Judicial Excellence and four past presidents of Lawyers for Civil Justice and DRI-The Voice of the Defense Bar.

Advancing Ethics Through the NMRS Center on Professionalism

In 1999, Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough Center on Professionalism was established at the University of South Carolina Law School with a gift from the Firm’s partners.  The Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough Center on Professionalism advances the public interest by promoting and encouraging high ethical conduct and professionalism by lawyers and judges.  Its purpose is to enrich teaching and research on the legal profession and to promote professionalism, civic leadership, and public service in the practice of law.
