ATLANTA — Holly Hempel, a partner at Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP’s Atlanta office, has been honored with the 2023 Distinguished Alumna Award from Rider University. Hempel graduated from Rider in 1996.

Shortly after graduating from Wake Forest law school in 1999, she began working with Nelson Mullins and earned partnership in 2007. In 2014, she began leading her own team of litigators. She focuses her career on national civil litigation and represents corporations and individuals in products liability, toxic tort, and travel-related litigation. She also handles litigation matters stemming from technology and marketplace platforms.

Hempel is also a leader in the firm’s Litigation Group, where she oversees more than 500 attorneys who practice products liability, toxic torts, technology, business, and other forms of litigation. She is currently working alongside the Nelson Mullins’ Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Team to assist the firm in becoming Mansfield certified. In addition to her firm involvement, Hempel also spearheaded the firm’s Alumni Network Program when she was chair of the Marketing Committee.

Hempel was selected by the Rider University Alumni Board, who select each year’s honoree based on their exceptional achievements and devout dedication to their careers and community, bringing honor to their alma matter.

An Alumni Awards ceremony will be held during Rider University’s Homecoming Weekend on Oct. 28.
