WASHINGTON — Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP is pleased to announce that John Kalas, an experienced litigator with over a decade of experience, is joining the firm as a partner in Nelson Mullins’ Washington, D.C. office.

Kalas is an accomplished trial lawyer. He comes to the firm after 13 years of practicing law at a litigation boutique in the Washington, D.C. area. Clients look to Kalas to provide creative and aggressive representation in their most difficult and complex cases, and often engage him in the pretrial phase. His practice — both at trial and in discovery and motions practice — is focused on deconstructing the core scientific and liability themes of the opposition. Over the course of his career, he has taken and defended depositions of hundreds of expert and fact witnesses, participated in several multi-day Daubert hearings, and served as trial counsel in multiple cases in jurisdictions nationwide.

Kalas’s practice at Nelson Mullins will focus largely on products liability and toxic tort litigation matters. He is a graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center and received his undergraduate degree from Elon University in North Carolina.
