CHICAGO – Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP, a national, full-service law firm with offices from coast to coast, is pleased to welcome David Ogles as partner in its Chicago office. Ogles will primarily practice commercial litigation and will serve on the firm’s Midwest Commercial Litigation Team.
“David will play a major role in fostering the growth and development of our Chicago office,” said Nelson Mullins partner Scott McMillin. “With a deep knowledge of commercial litigation and strong ties to this legal market, his arrival marks a new chapter, and we are thrilled to welcome him to our team.”
With more than a decade of professional legal experience, Ogles has served as lead counsel for business clients and principals on numerous federal and state cases across the country, including high-stakes cases involving allegations of fraud and breach of fiduciary duty. He has extensive experience prosecuting and defending commercial contract and business tort cases and has obtained successful outcomes for clients in areas as diverse as antitrust, bankruptcy litigation, class and mass actions, employment and restrictive covenants, insurance and asset recovery, intellectual property and trade secrets, real estate, and post-transactional matters such as earn outs and indemnity claims. Ogles adds to Nelson Mullins’ deep bench of litigators with long-standing representation of manufacturers and distributors and looks forward to expanding his practice as outside general counsel for non-profits social enterprise, and startups.
“Chicago is a terrific legal market with endless opportunities for growth,” Ogles said. “I am grateful to join the Nelson Mullins team and work alongside an elite group of attorneys with established roots in all areas of litigation. I look forward to working on the Midwest Commercial Litigation Team and help the Chicago office reach new heights.”
Ogles graduated from the University of Chicago Law School with High Honors, where he served on law review, and earned his undergraduate degree in Economics and Philosophy from Emory University. In 2022 and 2023, he was listed among the Ones to Watch in commercial litigation by Best Lawyers Magazine.
