Veteran bankruptcy and financial restructuring partners Shane G. Ramsey and Dylan Trache have been named Co-Chairs of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP’s highly regarded Bankruptcy and Financial Restructuring Practice Group. Ramsey, who is based at the firm’s Nashville office, came to the firm in 2016 and has served as Vice Chair of the practice since 2017. Trache is a longtime partner and is based in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office and served as Vice Chair of the practice since 2022.
Ramsey and Trache take over as Co-Chairs from Miami partner Gary M. Freedman, who plans to retire this year after more than 37 years as a practicing attorney. Freedman originally came to Broad & Cassell in 2017, which was merged into Nelson Mullins in 2019 after almost 25 years as managing partner for Tabas, Freedman & Soloff, P.A. — a Miami law firm focused on bankruptcy and business litigation matters.
"We are incredibly grateful for Gary’s decades of dedication as a lawyer, but also his mentorship as we transition into our new roles as Co-Chairs of the practice group," Co-Chair Ramsey said. "And I am excited to take on this challenge head-on with Dylan as we lead the practice and continue the growth we’ve experienced over the last decade."
"This is a new and exciting challenge for Shane and I," Co-Chair Trache said. "As I approach my 10-year mark here at Nelson Mullins, I am fortunate to be able to begin a new chapter co-leading the practice group."
Ramsey regularly represents committees of unsecured creditors, indenture trustees, secured creditors, unsecured creditors, bondholders, noteholders, liquidation trustees, plan administrators, disbursing agents, and other entities in bankruptcy reorganizations, liquidation proceedings, and bankruptcy related litigation.
Trache’s practice centers on bankruptcy, financial restructuring, and related litigation. He has experience representing Chapter 11 debtors, bankruptcy trustees, major creditors, and other parties in business bankruptcy cases in many industries, including construction mass media, legal services, real estate, aviation, retail, manufacturing, and food and beverage.
