RALEIGH, N.C. – Jeff Kelly, partner of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP’s Raleigh office and chair of the Advisory Board’s Innovation Lab with Legal Aid of North Carolina (LANC), was recently featured on an episode of the Legal Services Corporation’s “Talk Justice” podcast. The LANC Innovation Lab, which is the first of its kind in the United States, seeks to make legal representation more accessible to underserved communities through exploring strategic, technological, and practical solutions to the access to justice crisis.
Kelly works closely with LANC’s Chief Executive Officer, Ashley Campbell, and LANC’s newly appointed Chief Innovation Officer, Scheree Gilchrist, who were also featured in the podcast, to establish the Innovation Lab’s Advisory Board. As chair of the Innovation Lab, Kelly is convening experts from North Carolina and across the country to create scalable solutions to help bridge the justice gap. Kelly shared that, although the Innovation Lab has only recently been formed, he has been collaborating with LANC, law schools, and other organizations to establish robust partnerships that will drive the initiative forward.
Kelly focuses his practice in the areas of emerging technology, particularly in areas involving data analytics, artificial intelligence, digital assets, and FinTech. He works closely with entrepreneurs and companies to effectively navigate changing regulations, government investigations, and complex corporate and securities law challenges. In addition to chairing the Advisory Board for LANC’s Innovation Lab, Kelly also serves on LANC’s Board of Directors. He is also Fellow of Duke University School of Law’s Center on Law and Technology and serves on the Governing Council of the American Bar Association’s Center for Innovation.
