COLUMBIA, S.C. – Partners Kristin Ahr and Alana K. Bassin and the firm have been named finalists for Euromoney Legal Media’s 2023 Women in Business Law Awards.

Ahr was shortlisted for Lawyer of the Year in the labor and employment practice, while Bassin is a finalist in product liability. Winners will be announced at an awards dinner in New York City on June 8, 2023.

Nelson Mullins is recognized in the North America category for its pro bono work and programs focusing on career development.

In addition, the firm is shortlisted for three jurisdictional awards – in the South, the Midwest, and the West. This recognition is based on a large-picture view of initiatives, demographics, and practitioners in each jurisdiction.

These awards celebrate groundbreaking achievements by the region’s leading female lawyers and the most progressive firms in terms of their gender policies, advocacy, and support of women in law.

Based in West Palm Beach, Fla., Ahr focuses her practice on employment litigation and compliance and commercial litigation. She serves as counsel to a broad range of clients, public and private, in both federal and state courts, as well as before administrative agencies, and alternative dispute resolution forums.

Based in Minneapolis, Bassin heads the firm’s Minnesota office. She has represented Fortune 500 companies in products liability, commercial litigation, and general liability defense. She has defended individual and mass-tort actions across the country involving high-exposure catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases.

Individual winners are judged on their professional accomplishments as well as their advocacy and influence within their fields between January 1 to December 31 of the preceding year.
