Edward focuses primarily on assisting U.S. and foreign businesses with locating, expanding, and operating in the U.S. Since the early 1990s, he has worked closely with state and local economic development authorities and governments in advising businesses and industries on various economic development incentives, real estate acquisition, leasing, and financing, and addressing business, contract, regulatory and other issues as they arise. He co-chairs the Firm's Economic Development Practice Group. Edward also regularly represents lenders and borrowers in financing transactions and real estate matters.

Edward has represented many U.S. and foreign clients, including companies from Canada, The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, and Korea which have invested in major advanced manufacturing, distribution, and corporate office facilities in the southeastern U.S. Industries represented by these clients include automotive, food and beverage, chemicals, electronics, and renewable energy.

Representative Matters

  • Represented major Asian OEM in establishment of a multi-billion-dollar electric vehicle assembly facility resulting in thousands of jobs in Georgia.
  • Represented major Asian battery cell manufacturer in establishment of a manufacturing facility in South Carolina representing an investment in excess of $1 billion and the creation of over 1,000 jobs.
  • Represented a large multi-national U.S. based consumer goods manufacturer in securing necessary incentives and acquisition of real estate resulting in an investment of approximately $495 million and approximately 500 jobs for a major manufacturing and distribution facility in South Carolina.
  • Represented West Coast based wood products manufacturing company in establishing manufacturing operations in North Carolina and South Carolina representing combined investments in excess of $400 million and in excess of 275 jobs.
  • Assisted several traditional and online national and international retailers in establishing large distribution facilities in South Carolina
  • Assisted a national manufacturing company in relocating a portion of its manufacturing operations to South Carolina, securing incentives, NMTC financing, and refinancing of company’s existing U.S. debt
  • Represented Europe based heavy equipment manufacturer with relocation of existing U.S. headquarters to South Carolina
  • Represented European company in set up of first manufacturing operation in S.C. and additional expansions
  • Represented Asian manufacturer in establishment of first U.S. operations and multiple expansions in South Carolina thereafter, representing a total investment of over $125 million and over 250 jobs
  • Successfully restructured existing incentive packages for several clients as a result of changes in business conditions
