Woojin Shin is a partner based in the Firm’s Washington, DC office. He serves corporate clients primarily in the energy, automotive, defense, and consumer goods industries. He regularly counsels multinational companies headquartered in South Korea and their U.S. subsidiaries with regard to their intricate corporate, financial, and regulatory issues. Woojin understands the legal needs of his clients and provides creative and effective solutions to complex issues encountered in business transactions and operations in the United States and across international borders.

Woojin is a Co-Chair of the Firm’s Economic Development Practice & Industry Group. In that capacity, he frequently serves as the lead counsel for large-scale manufacturing projects in the U.S., many of which entail multibillion-dollar capital expenditures and bear significance for U.S. national security issues. He understands the strategic goals of the project owners and their host communities, as well as the relationship-driven nature of economic development projects. Drawing from this insight, he regularly furnishes strategic guidance to his economic development clients, enveloping a comprehensive spectrum of legal and commercial considerations spanning the lifecycle of a project - from site selection to incentive negotiations including documentation, construction, and operation.

In addition, Woojin advises Korean corporate and governmental clients on U.S. federal and state government relations issues, focusing on industrial development policy laws, such as the Inflation Reduction Act and CHIPS and Science Act, and related trade issues. He provides his clients with strategic counsel on U.S. policy issues combined with a deep understanding of their business culture and objectives.

Woojin is frequently invited to major economic and global strategy forums in Korea, as well as TV and YouTube talk shows, where he discusses U.S. industrial policies and investment strategies.

Prior to his legal career, Woojin worked for the marketing team of a Korean subsidiary of a multinational financial company, where he served as an elected member of its labor-management committee. He also served in the Korean Army and was stationed at the Capital Defense Command for 2.5 years.
